My Dear Kuttichathan: Now and Then!

Science and Fiction has always been the most favourite of all and it becomes a must watch when it blends in 3D. 3D movies originate from as early as 1950s. The first Indian 3D movie was produced in a state called KeralaIndia  in 1984. This movie was “My Dear Kuttichathan”. Maliampurackal Appachan successfully produced this movie completely in 3D. It used to be a very difficult task to produce a 3D movie in those days. Moreover 3D was something which was the rarest of all. So this movie was the most popular movie which had maximum number of viewers and lovers all over the country.
This movie is about a little ghost referred to as Kuttichathan who is a child friendly ghost and is trapped by a magician who misuses his abilities. This little ghost is freed by some small children. One of those children asks the ghost to live with her but finally the little ghost kills the magician and flies away like a bat. First released in 1984, this movie was dubbed in two more languages and was re-done in the year 1997 and 2011 respectively. This movie, which shows how our technology has improved, has three versions shot in different years with the latest technologies available at that time.

During those days, producing a 3D movie was a very difficult job. Filmmakers admitted that it was the toughest task when the producer decided to do this movie in 3D which took a very long time to complete the whole movie. They had to face difficulties such as working in place of 100 Kilowatts light since ordinary movie only required 350 Kilowatts light. Thus a normal movie which can be completed in 40 days may take 140 days to complete when it is made into 3D version. Moreover the production was only 25% but the rest was just exhibition. Another difficulty  is most of the cinema halls were not equipped enough for a 3D movie, so theatre screens were changed to silver coated plastic ones so that 3D movie could be played on them. People had hardly seen any 3D glasses due to the insufficient technology advancement and the movie production team had to also own the responsibility of producing 3D glasses.

But when this movie was re-made, most of the difficulties mentioned above were resolved. There was so much improvement in the technologies that thing that were done manually become computerised and digital. Thanks to all the producers for taking risk and producing these movies in the toughest way, so that we can learn lessons and our life has become much simpler and better with advanced technologies

Nowadays, with the development and improvement of 3D technology, a lot of movies with many effects are re-made with 3D technology, like the Titanic, Jurassic Park, Man of Steal and so forth. These movies re-made by the 3D technology are much more vivid and wonderful. Actually, a successfully 3D or sci-fi movies can’t be apart from the help of renderfarm, even, we can say these movies can’t be produced without the help of render farm, as render farm can help artists realize their creation and dream about what he want these movie to be. As we all know, each production company has a huge render farm behind, which is equipped with top-rank hardware specs. So is Fox Renderfarm with vray render farm. We are not a production company, yet production companies all over the world can benefit from the render service we offer. It is the meaning for our existence to make contribution to the development of CG industry.
