A Tour to the Past Animation “THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER”

After achieving a huge response from the audience, Walt Disney Pictures presented the sequel of The Rescuers named The Rescuers Down under, which was an American animated adventure film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by Buena Vista Distribution in 1990. It was the 29th film of the Walt Disney Animated Classic series. The story of the film was based on that the RAS agents with Miss Bianca (Eva Gabor) and Bernard (Bob Newhart) traveled to Australia for saving a boy and a rare golden eagle.

Through the film, the Disney animator’s team had shown their excellence in producing and had done a great job which was far better than the production of “The Rescuers”. Ken Anderson led the designer team and tried to employ rough artistic edges in contrast. So that the round animals which were seen in productions in the previous film. They used the same theme in this film and design the animals more realistic than that in the previous film. The special effects and animation of this film was done successfully by Xerography.

The Rescuers Down Under was a notable for Disney because it was the first traditional animated film completely used the computerized CAPS process. Computer Animation Production System is shortly known as CAPS, which is the process of computer based on production system used for digital link, paint and compositing that were allowed to make more efficient and sophisticated post production for this film. Hence, the animators’ drawings and the background paintings were both made in computer through the scanner system whose animation drawings were painted by digital artists. In this film, Disney animators also used some CG elements and techniques to make the field of flowers in the opening scenes

Now, the CG production has improved and also changed the way of producing animation films. They are now using IMAX Studio to design the characters and animals to make them be showed far more realistic for the multitude. Now the animators are applying some techniques like subsurface scattering which is a lighting technique for the 3D models to movie production, especially for 3D, animation or CG movies. By applying this technique, producers can calculate the incoming light rays and the shape of surface as well to make the scenes of animation look much more realistic to the multitude.
In 1990s, the Walt Disney Production presented some different types of animation works which got great response from the film lovers. They said that it was their meaning to show different invention in the animations in order to make the production easier than others doing so. Regarding to achieve this, they achieved a great favor from some leading render farms as well.

As a matter of fact, we can say an animation or CG movie can’t be produced without the help of render farm, as they can help the artists to achieve their creation and what they want these movies to be. Generally speaking, each production company has a huge render farm behind, which is equipped with the top-level hardware specs. That is true for Fox Renderfarm with blender render farm, which is one of the leading online rendering service providers all over the world. We are not a production company, which means the production companies all over the world can benefit from the rendering services we offer. It is our point to try our best to make contributions to the development of CGI.
