Sony Pictures Animation “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”



After the destruction of food storm in the first film “Cloudy with a chance of meatballs” which was caused by Flint Lockwood’ machine, he and his friends are now forced to leave the town of Swallow Falls. Now Flint gets an invitation from his idol Chester V to join The Live Crop Company having tasked to clean the island where the best inventors in the world create technology which is best for the mankind and Earth. The story we are talking about is the sequel of the film which is mentioned as “Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2” directed by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn and distributed by Columbia Pictures. It will be another production of Sony Pictures Animation.
In the First film, animators of Sony Image works were combined to work hard to create the computer-generated food and mixed them in a bowl and baked the dough which was really realistic. As they did it successfully in the first film, they can assure that they will do better in this film. To create realistic looking, the first step is to make a mess at least that is what animators of the Sony Image works do in this film. As the sayings of Rob Bredow, visual effects supervisor that they got a nice three-story- building and lots of place in the first film as well as they got in this film where they could do similar techniques. To create film version of the Cloudy, Directors Chris Miller and Philip Lord created a backyard genius like Flint Lockwood, the inventor who creates a machine which turns water into food as well as in this film, directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn do the same thing. For creating CG animation in the film, directors are strictly hands-off to the team of Image works for their brilliancy.
 In the first film, it was a task for the animators to create 80 different kinds of food with variations and highly stylized look of the buildings and people of the town and they ended up the making with success and it was look like real thing. So, in this film they will do it again with some variations added that will make different this film from before. VFX artists are opted to create a stylized version of the building and people using physics simulation. Animators of the Image works work hard to create digital versions of all the characteristics to their real-life counterparts.
For making the film look like even more realistic, animators are applied a lighting technique which is called subsurface scattering to the 3D models. As the Bredow explained that basically they calculate the incoming light rays, the shape of the surface and how much the light reflects on eye. Global Illumination, a rendered which gives them the ability to calculate the bounce light between various objects. As the sayings of Bredow that if a red object put near a white wall it will get a subtle red bleed on the wall. At the beginning of the first film, animators incorporating the food model into the movie but as the sequences were running on animators create a simple version of the tornado which outlined the speed of the spin and positioned of the shot as they will do it in this film from the beginning to create some variations. The directors of the film are thankful to the animators to make the film in 3D version and look like more realistic this time.
